The Foundation Level Course is a one-year preparatory course that combines theoretical and practical sessions to provide students with exposure to knowledge and skills in line with the requirements of the hospitality and tourism sectors. It is a stepping stone that can lead all other ITS programmes.

Foundation in Hospitality and Tourism

A diploma course provides advanced factual and theoretical knowledge such that students can understand theoretical concepts and analysis of information, apply facts and procedures, and acquire practical skills required in their chosen field within the hospitality and tourism industries. It is recognised by the MATSEC board as a Level 4 qualification.

This is an entry level course specifically designed for students with little or no experience in the hospitality and event management industry. It comprises a 5-unit curriculum, which once passed; enable the student to proceed onto higher qualifications.

The Higher National Diploma (HND)Level Courses give the students the best knowledge and insight into the industry. A Higher Diploma Level Course is equivalent to a MQF Level 5 qualification and these courses are intended for individuals who wish to acquire competencies in the industry equivalent to a junior management position.

The Institute of Tourism Studies has just launched three degree programmes in Culinary Arts, Gastronomy and International Hospitality Management. These programmes are aimed at individuals who would like to achieve a higher level of education in an industry which is constantly growing and is the main contributor of the Maltese economy.
